Overview

The basic elements of print design include typeface, color, layout, and image. Typefaces can be categorized into serifs (such as Times New Roman) and sans-serifs (such as Helvetica). Color refers to the hue of ink used to create the printed piece. Layout includes the size, position, and arrangement of text and images. Image refers to the actual picture that is being printed.
